Glogster

I used glogster to create a book summary. I thought this might be a great new way of having students share the books they have read compared to a standard book report. I made this page as a possible example. It was fun looking at all the different backgrounds and text boxes. Next time, I want to add some photos and maybe video.

Golden Sower Podcast

Golden Sower Podcast

Posted using ShareThis

Here is a link to my podcast on podbean.com. I used garage band to create the podcast and got my music from freeplay music. I have used garage band before, but this is the first time I completed and published a podcast.

The only trouble I had with this project came when it was time to embed the podcast in my blog. Podbean's embeddale player won't play this kind of file, so instead, I posted a link to my podcast.

This podcast can be used to introduce student's to the Golden Sower nominess, help parents know what their students are reading, or remind students about the books before voting.

I used picnik to edit a few of the photos. I added stamps to three of the photos and added a frame around one. I really enjoy this site, I have bookmarked it in my Delicious account so I can remember to use it frequently.

Delicious

http://delicious.com/ginannep

This is a great site. I have 14 computers in my library and when I need to bookmark sites, it can be a big task, especially when the web address is long and complicated. I can see how this site can be useful in these instances. Instead of typing each long address on every computer, I can quickly sign in and find the correct site. I also use three different computers on a daily basis(two at school, one at home). Many times I will find something on one computer and have a hard time locating it again.

I also didn't realize this site ran off of yahoo. I already had a yahoo ID, so setting up my account was really easy. I can't wait to share this tool with other teachers in my building.

Podcasts

There are so many podcasts available, it was fun looking for two to subscribe to. The first one I chose was from PBS called "Nature." There were many great episodes available right away on topics that I can use in my Library. I like that the episodes are short, less than 10 minutes. That allows me to use this in my lessons without taking the entire class time.

The second podcast I subscribed to is Nightline from ABC News. This is a great news program. Many times it is hard to catch the news on TV. The next step is to get this Podcast sent to my phone, allowing me to catch up on the news whenever I have a minute (ha, ha).

I have viewed and used podcasts in the past, so this part of this week's assignments was not terribly hard. The next project will be, however. I have no worries about creating the podcast using Garageband, the part I am unfamiliar with is publishing. I am hoping it won't be too complicate.

Library Survey

This is a survey I created to help develop the collection in the Library. I could use it with older students and staff. This is a great tool!

Animoto Video- Rainforest

I created a video to introduce the topic of rain forest biomes to students. I really enjoyed how easy it was to use animoto. I also like how the different effects were added in automatically.

I used picnic to add text to one photo and to enhance several others. I played around with the colors, shading, and contrast on many of the photos of the plants and animals.

Freeplay music is a great site. I had a hard time selecting a song to use, there were so many good choices. This was a fun project and I will probably make other videos for more topics.

This is my article review movie. I used iMovie to create and edit the movie.
